Itinerary

• Day 1: Pick up from San Jose airport.
• Day 2: Rafting Pacuare River. Drop off Puerto Viejo area.
• Day 3: Day in Puerto Viejo. Optional activities available.
• Day 4: Day in Puerto Viejo. Optional activities available.
• Day 5: Transfer from Puerto Viejo drive and boat into Tortuguero.
• Day 6: Canal tour in Tortuguero and transfer to Arenal.
• Day 7: Day in Arenal, La Fortuna.
• Day 8: Shared shuttle transfer to Tamarindo.
• Day 9: Day in Tamarindo. Optional activities available.
• Day 10: Shared shuttle transfer back to San Jose.
• Day 11: Private shuttle transfer from San Jose hotel to Airport for Departure flight.

NOTE: The drive from Tamarindo to the San Jose Airport is 5 hours. Therefore if you can book an evening flight you can drive directly from Tamarindo to the airport and fly the same day, or if you can book a flight out of LIberia International Airport your last night in San Jose can be used elsewhere in this itinerary, OR you can shorten trip by 1 day.

Description

The Caribbean is an evergreen region with lush rainforests and wildlife, and the drier Pacific side has beautiful beaches and astonishing sunsets. You will start rafting the world famous Pacuare River, then head down to the South Caribbean Coast with vibrant turquoise waters, visit Tortuguero National Park, then off to La Fortuna to relax in the healing natural hot springs from the Arenal volcano. Then go the North Pacific Coast where you can enjoy the calm warm water of the Pacific Ocean in Tamarindo and relax.

Aiport Pick Up

Today we will have a private transport ready for you at the airport upon arrival.. We will bring you directly to your hotel in San Jose so you can relax.

The white water that is equally exciting. It is not an overly challenging river, but it has a lot of rapids, therefore giving you an adventure filled with lots of fun. The 18 mile one day run includes a total of 52 rapids. After rafting we will drop you off in the beautiful south Caribbean town of Puerto Viejo.

Raft the Pacuare River

We will pick you up from your hotel reception and head to the Pacuare River for a day of rafting. The Pacuare River is one of the best choices for your adventure treks in Costa Rica. It is world famous for its sheer beauty: A true river gorge flanked by steep, green walls. Here you enjoy the feeling of total isolation from urban life and the realness of being connected with nature. You see waterfalls cascade into the river from both sides as colorful, tropical birds fly right over your head. The white water that is equally exciting. Puerto Viejo

Today is a free day to relax and enjoy the sand, surf and sun. Clear water, coconut palms, great surf and a laid-back Caribbean atmosphere make Puerto Viejo a favorite among travelers. Located on the Caribbean Coast, about an hour south of Limon, Puerto Viejo is the center of activity between the smaller villages of Cahuita and Manzanillo. The relaxed, seaside town is framed by jungle, turquoise seas, banana plantations and scenic rivers.. Here amidst the exotic flora and fauna, lie vibrant seaside towns with gorgeous beaches and crystal clear waters. Optional Tours and activities available!

Puerto Viejo

Transfer to Tortuguero

Time to embark on the most extraordinary jungle adventure, our 2 days / 1 night Tortuguero Expedition. This National Park is located on the northern Caribbean plain of the country. A navigable network of lagoons and canals parallel to the coast crosses the Park with great scenic beauty, home to a great number of species surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. Tortuguero is considered the most important nesting site on the western half of the Caribbean for the Green Sea Turtle (Chelonia mydas) that comes to the beach to nest every year from July to October. Breakfasts, lodging and transportation are included.

Today we have a Tortuguero Village Tour included.

Transfer from Tortuguero to Arenal

Do a morning Naturalistic Canoe tour and head to Arenal! Costa Rica is a land of Volcanoes! Arenal is a breathtaking site, perfectly shaped Volcano standing at 1600 meters height, it’s an amazing photo. The volcano has an east green, vegetation covered side, and a west grey, forest less side. An ideal way to make the best of your day is to arrange an activity visiting the green side in the morning, like a horseback ride to the Fortuna waterfall, and another adventure covering the grey side, like the mandatory volcano hike with hot water springs.
